BUILD A NEW FUNCTION WITHOUT COMPROMISING ITS PRACTICALITY
The design of canopies built a new function on footbridge in terms of mechanism ’s method (passive staying) and transit ’s spatial arrangement (active staying). 
 
MECHANISM ’S METHOD, the number of people will affect the transformation of canopies’ which will determine whether the pedestrian will passively staying or not. If there are many people at this spot, the system will let the mechanism know it needs to be opened. After opening, this location will have changes in light accessibility and space improvement. Therefore, based on the environment and the flow of people, the opportunities for activities such as busking and other performance will also increase, so pedestrians will be willing to stay passively.

Once pedestrian gets more, canopies start opening, activities occurring, people willing to stay passively.
